TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 28, 2006--Electronics
Workbench Corporation, a National Instruments company, today announced that
DesignSuite 9 is one of the top three products of 2005, according to readers of
Elektronik magazine, one of Germany's premier electronics publications. The
circuit design software suite, which was competing against 10 other products,
received second place in the 2005 Product of the Year CAD/CAE category.
DesignSuite 9 is a collection of four Electronics Workbench
products -- Multicap 9, Multisim 9, Ultiboard 9 and Ultiroute 9 -- that,
together, create a tightly integrated, end-to-end solution engineers can use to
efficiently take electronics projects from initial concept through capture and
simulation to final layout and production. Through integration with the
National Instruments software platform, DesignSuite 9 combines world-class
simulation with real-world measurements early in the design process, bridging
the gap between popular design and test tools and helping design engineers make
more informed decisions in the early stages of product development.
"One of the most striking features of DesignSuite is
its seamless integration of circuit simulation with test and measurement
capabilities via NI LabVIEW. This attribute offers a unique, added value that
other CAD packages cannot offer today," said Harry Schubert, technical
editor of Elektronik.
DesignSuite 9 seamlessly integrates with the LabVIEW 8 graphical
development environment and with NI SignalExpress interactive measurement
software. With Multisim 9, engineers can import simulation data and real-world
measurements, resulting in reduced errors, shorter design time and more
efficiency in creating complex designs. Engineers can enhance their design
simulations by using the real-world data they acquired via LabVIEW as the
source that drives virtual circuits. Additionally, engineers can use LabVIEW to
graphically create fully customized virtual instruments to use in the Multisim
environment.
Elektronik annually nominates more than 100 products in 10
separate electronics categories. The publication's readers then choose their
preferred products and cast their votes for Product of the Year. This year,
readers cast more than 5,200 votes.
"Electronics Workbench is proud to offer a complete
suite of products that engineers can use to meet all their design needs,"
said Dan Harris, general manager of Electronics Workbench. "And we are
honored to know that the readers of Elektronik value our product enough to vote
it one of the best products of the year."
Engineers can access a freeware edition of the complete

About National Instruments
For 30 years, National Instruments (www.ni.com) has been a
technology pioneer and leader in virtual instrumentation -- a revolutionary
concept that has changed the way engineers and scientists in industry,
government and academia approach measurement and automation. Leveraging PCs and
commercial technologies, virtual instrumentation increases productivity and
lowers costs for test, control and design applications through easy-to-integrate
software, such as NI LabVIEW, and modular measurement and control hardware for
PXI, PCI, PCI Express, USB and Ethernet. Headquartered in Austin, Texas, NI has
more than 3,800 employees and direct operations in nearly 40 countries. For the
past seven years, FORTUNE magazine has named NI one of the 100 best companies
to work for in America.
