MAGNA STEYR deploys LMS Virtual.Lab for
full-vehicle NVH engineering
Leuven, Belgium – August 9, 2006 – LMS, the
engineering innovation company, today announced that Magna Steyr has deployed
LMS Virtual.Lab to support their full-vehicle NVH (Noise, Vibration and
Harshness) engineering activities. The NVH teams at MAGNA STEYR use LMS
Virtual.Lab Noise and Vibration to accurately simulate the NVH performance of
new vehicle designs from the early development stages onwards. LMS Virtual.Lab
was selected by MAGNA STEYR for its unique hybrid simulation capabilities,
allowing engineering teams to combine test models of components and subsystems
with virtual models of the new vehicle design, herewith significantly
accelerating the vehicle development process.
MAGNA STEYR, a subsidiary of MAGNA INTERNATIONAL, is the
world’s largest brand-independent engineering and manufacturing partner to the
automotive industry. MAGNA STEYR’s range of services comprises the whole
spectrum of processes within the automotive industry, from development to
production, from the concept to the assembled vehicle. MAGNA STEYR has built an
extensive expertise in NVH engineering to meet
the challenges posed by today's vehicle development projects. With the
deployment of LMS Virtual.Lab, MAGNA STEYR expects to extend its
capabilities to proactively shape the NVH performance, comfort profile and
acoustics characteristics of new vehicles from the early design stage onwards.
“MAGNA STEYR selected LMS Virtual.Lab because it is the only
available commercial solution with a proven capability to streamline the
full-vehicle NVH development process and to provide reliable insights in the
NVH behavior of new vehicle designs using virtual prototype models” explained
Mr. Harald Macher, Head of the NVH department at MAGNA STEYR. “LMS
Virtual.Lab also provides powerful capabilities to combine virtual models of
new components with test-based models of existing components and sub-systems.
This strongly increases the accuracy of simulation results, reduces the overall
simulation model size, and accelerates simulation and design iterations.”
In addition to the core functionality of LMS Virtual.Lab
Noise and Vibration, MAGNA STEYR also valued the flexibility of the new value
based licensing system of LMS Virtual.Lab. This allows them to access multiple
Virtual.Lab applications and to easily cover additional simulation needs they
encounter through vehicle development projects, without having to reinvest in
new software licenses.
