Exton, Pa.
– Aug. 15, 2006 – In the latest issue of BE Magazine (www.be.org), published by Bentley Systems,
Incorporated, Bentley executives tell readers how to prepare for the new era of
infrastructure design and management. Based on keynotes from this year’s BE
Conferences, the thought-provoking articles from CEO Greg Bentley, CTO Keith
Bentley, COO Malcolm Walter, Senior VP Buddy Cleveland, Senior VP Bhupinder
Singh, and CMO Tony Flynn include links to videos of the complete
presentations.
Next in the
issue is “Setting New Standards for Excellence,” an article highlighting the
2006 BE Awards of Excellence ceremony. Included is a list of the 29 winners
honored in the professional portion of the program, the Educator of the Year
and three student winners honored in the academic portion of the program, and
the winner of the first BE Award for Lifetime Achievement.
The winners
were selected by an independent panel of jurors that included Bentley users and
industry experts. In the article “A Day in the Life of a BE Awards Juror,”
CAD/GIS development officer Peter Taylor, from Oldham Metropolitan Borough
Council, U.K., offers a personal account of this year’s selection process.
Taylor takes readers into the jury room and gives them a feel for what it is
like to become intimately involved with some of the most extraordinary projects
in the world.
Rounding out
the features section of BE Magazine is an article detailing Bentley and
Microsoft’s two-year collaboration to integrate SharePoint Products and
Technologies with ProjectWise. The result is ProjectWise StartPoint – an
entry-level collaboration tool that opens the power of ProjectWise to a broad
population of new users and teams.
In his
column “The Last Word,” Greg Bentley offers thoughts on the company’s
accomplishments during the prior year, as presented in the May 2006 Annual
Report. In his letter, Mr. Bentley notes that the company’s growth and
profitability enable it to continue to make strategic acquisitions to more comprehensively
support its users’ infrastructure work.
He
attributes Bentley’s strong performance to several distinguishing strategies
developed and executed at Bentley specifically to empower distributed
enterprises, along with the company’s most fundamental strategic distinction
– its complement of Bentley colleagues. “The proportion with advanced
degrees – at over one quarter of all colleagues – is revealing,”
said Mr. Bentley. “In particular, our 44 Ph.D.s are bridging the gap between
research and technology application.”
As always,
readers of BE Magazine will also find a variety of inspiring user success
stories; how-to articles that help architectural, engineering, and construction
(AEC) professionals and owner-operators become better connected and more
productive; a global roundup of AEC news; practical technical notes; commentary
on issues critical to the AEC community; and much more.
